3-Step Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to activate instant indexing

  • 1
Generate your IndexNow key above and download the .txt key file. The file name = your key value.
  • 2
Upload the key file to your website root.
For Blogger: Go to Settings → Search Preferences → Custom robots.txt and add the key filename.
For WordPress: Upload via FTP/cPanel to public_html/yourkey.txt
The file must be accessible at: yourdomain.com/{key}.txt
  • 3
For Google Search Console: Add your site at search.google.com/search-console and verify ownership. This allows Google to receive your pings.
  • 4
For Bing Webmaster Tools: Add your site at bing.com/webmasters. Once your key file is live, Bing automatically verifies & indexes.

Why Your URL May Not Get Indexed

Common issues & fixes

  • !
noindex tag — Your page has meta name="robots" content="noindex". Google won't index it regardless of pings.
  • !
Blocked by robots.txt — Check your robots.txt doesn't block Googlebot. For Blogger: Settings → Crawlers and Indexing.
  • Thin content — Pages with less than 300 words are often skipped. Add more valuable content.
  • No backlinks — New domains with zero links get crawled less. Share your URL on social media first.
  • Blogger tip — Enable Google Search Console in Settings → Search Preferences → Google Search Console and link your blog. This alone speeds up indexing 3x.
  • Submit sitemap — In GSC, go to Sitemaps and submit yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Blogger auto-generates this.
